DETONATOR EXPLODES
WAIITI MINER INJURED As the result of a detonator exploding while he was preparing a gelignite charge in the underground workings of the Martha mine, Mr. James Macandrew suffered serious injuries to his left hand. His first finger was blown off and his thumb was badly shattered.
Mr. Macandrew received first-aid treatment at the mine dressing station and later received further treatment at the Walhi Hospital,
