TROUT FISHING

OPENING OF SEASON FAIR TAUPO CATCHES The fishing season opened in Taupo under good fishing conditions, particularly up to about, nine o’clock. A light rain, was falling it. intermittent showers, which made it very favourable for trolling on the lake, which was most successful.

There appeared to be plenty of fish about, although the general opinion was that they are running smaller this year than last, and for this time of the season the condition was fair.

The 'biggest fish so far reported was one of 7£lb., caught by Mrs. T. Heath. Fishing on the rivers, particularly the Waikato, was rather disappointing, very few fish being taken. There are fewer anglers here at present than is usual for the opening day. All the trolling parties worked between the wharf and Rangitira Point.
