A shallow secondary depression is crossing the North Island. An anticyclone is advancing across the Tasman Sea but the highest pressure is in the south. Forecast.- Winds north-west to westerly over northern portion ot North island, elsewhere southerlies to south-easterlies prevailing, strong at first about Cook Strait, but otherwise light to fresh. Seas.- -In New Zealand waters, rough in the Cook Strait area and rather rough on the west coast of the North Island; elsewhere, slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea.— Moderate westerly winds at first in the northern portion, otherwise light lo moderate south-easterlies prevailing, seas slight to moderate. Weather. —Cloudy to overcast and, in places, misty, moderate rain or drizzle probable in many places, but little in far north and south, improving to-mor-row, Temperatures.—Cool. To-day’s North Island Report Overcast conditions, with rain general, were reported throughout the North Island this morning. Moderate southerly breezes were reported at Opoliki, Gisborne, and Wellington, and moderate north-easterlies elsewhere. The barometer had continued the rising movement. Temperatures •il !i o’clock were; Auckland (12 degrees. Taurangn and Napier (111, Opoliki (12, East Cape and Gisborne 59. and Wellington 50. Hough seas were reported between Cape Palliser and Napier; elsewhere moderate or smooth. Midday Forecast General Situation.--An anti-cyclone Queers most of the Tasman Sea and extends across the South Island, but a series o! shallow depressions continues lo cross the North Island. Forecast.--Moderate to strong east, to south-east winds. Weather. -Dull and misty with drizzling rain but improving shortly in the southern area. Temperatures.- Cool. Seas. Rather rough.
