SELLING STOCKINGS
WIMBLEDON GIRL STAR MISS YORKE’S AMBITION LONDON, Oct. 2G. It is revealed that Miss Billie Yoike. the English girl who, with Mmo. Mathieu, France, won the doubles title at Wimbledon last year, is selling stockings at a West End chain stoie. Miss Yorke hopes to become stall manager in a suburban chain store, says the Daily Mail, a post which demands experience in all departments, including serving in the canteen, where the staff lunches for Od. Miss Yorke says: ‘“I have had my fun and seen the world. It is time I began real work, although it means fewer cocktail parties. 1 may never play in championship tennis again.”
