MOONEE VALLEY RACES FORMER N.Z. RIDER THOMPSON’S HURDLES WIN (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Pre3s Assn.) MELBOURNE. Oct. 13. The former New Zealander, H. Thompson, riding his first mount for five years, won the Hurdle Race on Res.tford at the Moonee Valley meeting to-day. Colossical failed in the same race. Membo broke down in the Hunters’ Steeples. Grrfnvin ran a promising third tn .he Trial Handicap. The Cup candidate, Fireman, in a determined finish in the Welter Handijap, filled second place and should appreciate the extra half-mile in the Caulfield Cup.
J Pantoon ran an impressive race to vin the Gowrie Handicap, showing limself to be a much-improved colt. Sir Simper gave a poor display in .he Springbank Handicap, which was won by Mr. W. R. Kemball’s Amiable with a brilliant finish.
