Threat to Industry

Sir,—Your article on this subject in Tuesday night’s issue makes one put on his considering cap. The Government has put up the cost of living, and is now gazing helplessly on its handiwork. It has created artificial conditions, and is now involved in their toils. What a commentary on the ability of the men who promised cheaper living, and reduced taxes! If this is the position when world conditions are prosperous, what will happen when the world goes back to even average conditions?—Yours, etc., EMPLOYER.
