INSPECTION OF HOUSES DINNER WITH DIPLOMAT BERLIN, Oct. 13. The Duke and Duchess of Windsor to-day made a tour of the gardensettlements on the outskirts of the city. They were greeted by swarms of cheering children, who clamoured for autographs. The visitors entered a number of houses and talked to the occupants, one of whom said that he paid rent amounting to 50s a month, and that the house and garden would become his own property in 15 years. The Duke of Windsor also drove through the Siemenstadt, again calling at a number of houses, where housewives explained the conditions. They concluded their visit by inspecting the huge Olympic Stadium, after which they were entertained at dinner by Herr von Ribbentrop, the German Ambassador to London, and his wife. The Duke and Duchess of Windsor intend giving a gala dinner when they reach Nuremberg, to return thp hospitality they have received in Ger many. The 'first editorial reference to the visit which is published' in thr Allgemeine Zeitung, says: “The word Is going round that there is some thing worth-while to be seen in Ger many. Now the Duke of Windsor, too. has come to convince himself of the energy with which the new Germany has tackled the social problem.”

DUKE’S FUTURE TOURS N.Z. NOT IMPOSSIBLE LONDON, Oct. 4. A member of the Duke of Windsor’s suite, who spoke by telephone from the I-lotel Meurice, Paris, was asked whether the Duke and Duchess were likely ever to visit Australia and New Zealand. He replied: “I am sorry, but I cannot discuss that. He may go anywhere at all. One cannot say what the future may hold, or where they will settle finally. I cannot say that they will never visit Australia or New Zealand, but I cannot say that they are likely to visit those countries.”
