A member of the Duke of Windsor’s suite, who spoke by telephone from the I-lotel Meurice, Paris, was asked whether the Duke and Duchess were likely ever to visit Australia and New Zealand. He replied: “I am sorry, but I cannot discuss that. He may go anywhere at all. One cannot say what the future may hold, or where they will settle finally. I cannot say that they will never visit Australia or New Zealand, but I cannot say that they are likely to visit those countries.”
