WAIRATA WEDDING
GELLERT—RANGER A picturesque wedding was cele brated at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Gellert, Wairata, last Saturday afternoon, when Mildred Ariki, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Ranger, Gisborne, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Alan Ewart, second son of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Gellert, Wairata. The ceremony, which was performed by the Rev. A. C. Hampton, was held in the garden with a picturesque and novel setting. The bridal party stood on a carpet of punga fonds under a triangle of pungas intermingled with starry clematis. A background of bush-clad hills completed a delightful setting. The bride, who was given away by Mr. A. F. Gellert, wore a dainty pink ensemble of charmeuse, with picture hat to tone. Her bouquet was of pink may and white clematis. In attendance as bridesmaid was Mis.s Tam Coop, Gisborne, who wore pale blue charmeuse with navy-blue straw halo hat. Her bouquet was of white flowers. Mr. J. Lawton, Gisborne, attended the bridegroom. After the ceremony the guests adjourned indoors, where the reception was held, the handsome wedding-cake having place of honour. , .Mrs. A,. F. Gellert,- the bridegroom’s mother, ; received the guests wearing a smart deep blue crepe-de-chine frock, with short floral coat to tone, and a wide-brimmed blue straw hat. She carried a bouquet of yellow and tangerine ranunculi. The happy couple, who were the recipients of many valuable and beautiful presents, later left by private car on their honeymoon tour in the north. The guests included: Mr. and Mrs. J. Redpath, Mr. Jock Redpath, Mrs. Mead, Miss Lorna Mead, Mr. Gordon Mead, Mr. and Mrs. A. Trafford, Mr. and 1 Mrs. ,T. Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. G. Hamilton, Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Murray, Miss Smith (Christchurch), Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Merry. Mr. W. J. Scott and Miss K. Scott; Mrs. Sidebottom (Gisborne), Mrs. Lawton (Gisborne), Mr. and Mrs. Alister Gellert (Tolaga Bay), Miss West (Gisborne). Miss Bartram (Gisborne), and Mr. R. Witters (Gisborne).
