NEW TYPE OF PHEASANT

DARK GREEN PLUMAGE VERY FAST ON WING (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. A new type of pheasant of fine sporting qualities has been evolved by Mr. F. D. Robson, curator of the Hawke’s Bay game farm at Greenmeadows, near Napier, according to information received at a meeting of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society this evening. The bird is larger than the Mongolian pheasant and has a dark green plumage instead of the usual copper red colour., The hens are almost black and speckled and resemble the Ancona. The hen birds are said to be very fast on the -wing.
