Details of the Wellington Tourist Bureau's dealings with Mrs. Mildred Seydell, the American journalist who stated in Christchurch that “strong reluctance had been shown to arrange for tourists to visit the South Island,” were given by Mr. R. W. Marshall, who is in charge of the bureau. He said that a positive denial could be given to the suggestion that any bias had been shown toward the South Island.
