A howling south-west wind and a sun-baked course made conditions difficult in the Ryder Cup golf contest on ,4he Southport course. Tremendous galleries followed each match. The match in which Whitcombe and Rees played Sarazen and Shute was halved. Alliss and Burton defeated Picard and Revolta, two and one. Guldahl and Manero defeated Lacey and Cox, two and one. Dudley and Wilson defeated Padgham and Cotton, four, and two.
