DANGER IN EUROPE
ECONOMIC DIFFICULTIES VAN ZEELAND’S WARNING NEW YORK, June 28, M. Paul Van Zeeland, the Prime Minister of Belgium, in a public address, referred to the economic difficulties which were facing certain leading nations as an unknown factor in the international situation. “Should the difficulties become more acute, they might create an internal situation so strained that recourse to war would appear the lesser of two evils,” lie said. He revealed that on -his mission he will discuss proposals for international action to reduce the obstacles affecting trade. He denied he had any intention of seeking loans for Europe. He said that his conversations with President Roosevelt had been truly encouraging.
