INCREASE MAINTAINED. The total value of motor imports into Xew Zealand for the quarter ended March 3.1 was UIA-i'ij'M.;, an increase of £710,497, or nearly twice the value of imports over the same period last year, when the figure was £725,4013. The total.number of vehicles of all
types (excluding chassis) imported up to Mnreh 31 this year was 9390, compared with' 6017 during the same period in 1036. an increase of 3373. Of these vehicles 1440 motor-cars valued at £215,291 went to Auckland, 230 being unassembled or completely knocked down. In addition 84 unassembled commercial vehicles and eight ehassia also went to Auckland.

There were also Ml- commercial vehicles imported, their total value being £232,819, as against £224,307 for the 120 ft imported .during the first three months of 1036. Of the total of 7978 motor-cars imported, 4701 came from the United Kingdom, 1963 from Canada, and 1314 from the United, States, while 365 of 1412 commercial vehicles also came from the United Kingdom*
Canada accounted for BGB and tho United States for 17!) of the remainder.
