(Herald Correspondent.) Mr. S. Dennett bad a narrow escape from serious injury when he was struck on the head by a piece of rock while working in a, cutting. He received a bad cut on the bead, but after having il stitched was able to return home.

Candy has taken over the tunnel cookhouse.--Mrs. .1. Moody, who has been staying in Gisborne, has returned home.—Miss P. Richardson has returned after spending the week-end in Gisborne.
