AIRWAYS’ COMPLAINT REQUEST FOR FACILITIES POSITION AT OPOTITvI Comments on the poor facilities for passengers at Hie Beacons aerodrome. Sapicv, were- contained in a letter received by the Napier Airport Board a its monthly meeting from Last, (.oast Airways, Limited. , The company wrote regarding a notice- informing passengers of the. ‘change froip the Napier aerodrome to Wcstshovc, and regarding facilities for passengers ns follows: “It. has been reported to the company that many accidental delays have been caused in' connection with the services as a result of the passengers, not being aware, of the change of the landing ground, stopping at the old airport. It is respectfully suggested that you would see your way to erect a notice in a suitable place, drawing attention to the location of the new aorodromo. •‘The matter of providing facilities to enable passengers to wash their bands on arrival after the journey from Gisborne requires attention. An inexpensive basin and jug in the waiting room would be greatly appreciate*!,” _ The board, in reply, said: “The chairman considers that as all intending passengers book at your Napier office, it would be an easier matter to draw then' attention to where the aircraft leave from. If yon. have a suitable notice board, the' board’s caretaker will ho pleased to place it in a suitable position. . •‘ln regard to the mutter of washing facilities, the chairman fails to sec the necessity for them after an hour’s journey only in your planes. However, these matters will be. placed ‘before the board at its next meeting, and then discussed.”
•‘lt may interest you to know that if the company paid you the full maximum landing fee payable under the regulations for the use ,of an efficientlyequipped aerodrome, the expense would not be greater than that at present entailed.” commented the company in reply, “so that the company will be glad’ when the unfortunate circumstances tinder which the board is working hare been obviated, and the board is able to function under normal working conditions.”
The outcome of the correspondence, and subsequent discussion at the meeting, was that the matter is to be held over pending facilities to be provided in the future. .
