MR. HALLIDAY PROMOTED BACK TO taumarunui Advice has been received that Mr. 0. Halliday, district clerk, I üblic Woiks Department, Gisborne, lias been transferred on promotion to Taumarunui. IK will be succeeded in Gisborne by -'U\ L. E. Attewell, Wellington. Mr Halliday came from the Taumarunui office 54 years ago, and while in Gisborne associated himself with hockey and cricket, in which games he took a prominent part as an umpire, taking charge of some prominent representative matches, including the hockey match in which India played Povorty Bay and the cricket match in which M.O.G. played the local team. At present he is the Public. Works Departments Rugby team’s representative on the Poverty Bay Rugby Union. . . , In addition to his duties as district clerk for the Public Works Department, much of his timo for a few years was taken up as secretary for the No. 4 District Transport Licensing Authority until its disbandment last year. Mr. and Mrs. Halliday expect to leave Gisborne for Taumariinni in about 10 days. .
