Within the past week the final work of modernising the drapery department lias been completed. It has necessitated a considerable amount of work and organisation to mane the change . without disrupting the smooth flow of busi-„i-i, ur uit convenient? of customers. The dress department is now on the right oi uie mam entrance. In this position, better lighting is obtained, and customers can examine to advuntage me shades and colours of dress materials.

An island arrangement of counters for the haberdashery department facilities the rapid serving of patrons.. Tile stocks are carried in bins and shelves, easy of access both to customers and staff.

The furnishing department lias been allocated increased space in the rear ol the premises' and up-to-date fittings enable’carpets and rugs to be examined under the direct light of a large skylight. ■ • The men’s department has bten enlarged, and the men’s shoe department is now accommodated in much improved quarters. The office arrangements have been consolidated in a convenient position, facilitating the management’s control over the business.

In all, the new lay-out of counters and departments gives the drapery branch a greatly improved appearance arid provides added floor space, which allows the customers greater freedom. It also enables the staff to more easily attend to customers’ requirements, a fact which will be greatly appreciated by the Ifirge number of shoppers who each week visit this up-to-date business.
