MORE EQUITABLE PRICE fishermen’* .\mvi-: The preliminary : (<‘|».s in obtaining an agreement whereby they will obtain a more equitable price for their fish were taken last evening by a fully representative gathering of local fishermen. The. meeting was presided over (by Air. Iv, Wallets and plans were made for the men to become members of the Federated Seamen's Union.
Mr. F. Walsh, national president of the Federated Seamen's l.’uion of New Zealand, addressed the meeting. He explained that, recently the Auckland biatii hof ihe union had made an agreemem not only lot the men in the trawler;;, till for men in seine net tishing. under the latter agreement it was neces-
sary in the first place to get an agreement with the lisli market for the price of lisli. After that, had Joint done, a complete agreement was arrived at. In the course of discussion it was the unanimous opinion of those presentthat, the price they were receiving was far too low. On the motion of the chairman, Mr Walsh was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his assistance.
