GISBOPvNE'S CLAIMS Tn connection with the recent representations of the Gisborne mid Fast Coast Shcopowners' Union to (he State Forestry Division regarding the planting of national forests in the district about Poverty Bay, to restore the losses by denudation, the Hon. \V. Fee Martin intimated to yesterday afternoon's meeting of the union that the. views expressed would receive consideration when the question of timber supplies for local necessities came under review in due course. The letter was received with satisfaction. After the service at St. rani's church last Sunday opportunity was taken to farewell three valued members of the congregation. Mr. and .Mrs. R. Medlines, ami -Mr. C. Saunders, who leave shortly for Gisborne. The \'eu. Archdeacon Butterfield, on behalf of their friends, presented -Mr. Saunders with a reading lamp, and .Mr. Midlines with a crystal bowl. The gifts were accompanied with warm testimonies to the value of the work done by the departing guests. —The Mayor. Mr. 11. L llarkev. accompanied the' Hnwke's Hay Mayoral delegation to Wellington on Wednesday for the Dominion centennial conference. Visitors to Wairoa for the HaughionMurray wedding include Miss Ena Murray, Hnntly, the bride-to-be, her mother, Mrs. Marion Murray, Wellington, Miss Merle McCorkindal'e. Auckland. the bridesmaid. Mesdames D. McCorkindale. and S. Wellham. Dunedin, aunt and cousin respectively of the bride-to-be.
