The TLyear-old prince, who also lias the title- of Count of Flanders, ’ is openly termed the “mystery prince” as he continues to avoid both the marriage altar and romance.
In the gossip over coffee cups it is staled ,t'he King’s brother, who prefers overalls to Court attire and high speed motor cars to l-'oyal carriages, is in love with a commoner. At any rate he steadfastly maintains his noncommittal attitude on, the numerous rumours which have linked liim matrimonially with princesses and ladies of rank and station.
With hi? love for privacy he has arranged his life according to his own lasle and prefers his pipe and a chat with intimates in his own studio .to any form of public life. He has been a more frequent visitor to Laeken Castle in Brussels in the past two years since the double tragedy, the death of his father, King Albert,, andT of Queen Astrid, burst over the Royq} familv.
Solacing - his grandmother and brother has become one of his chief interests and he is known ns a loving grandson to Dowager Queen Elizabeth.
