JEWELLERY RETAINED
HOSPITAL PATIENTS BOUTHIIAND CGI jLECTTON (Per Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, last, night. A strong-box produced at die close of the Southland Hospital Board’s meeting to-day provided ample evidence that, the allegations of Dr. D. G. McMillan, M.P., concerning the disposal of personal effects of patients Avho have died in public hospitals did not apply to Southland. The box contained an accumulation of watches and jeAvellcry from over the past 30 years. Pathetic, shabby little purses lay side by side Avith massive gold and silver Avatclies. Curiously carved brooches, the ‘ ‘rage ’ ’ 30 years ago, gleamed shyly beside opulent looking pocket books. All bore the names and addresses of the late OAvners.
“Wo’ll send this collection to Dr. McMillan,’’one member of the board suggested. “Perhaps be will realise then the absurdity of his statements.”
