CRIPPLED CHILDREN
TREATMENT OF MAORIS SOME REFUSE ASSISTANCE (Herald Correspondent.) Some Maori parents refuse to allow their crippled children to enter hospital for treatment, and the difficulty securing their co-operation is the subject of negotiation between the Waiapu Hospital Board and the Government. The matter was mentioned at a meeting of the board at Te Araroa on Monday, writes the Herald s representative It was reported that considerable difficulty was being experienced in prevailing upon parents to have their children attended to at the right time.
A letter, it was stated, had been written previously to the Native Minister, who had referred the matter to the Health Department, but nothing further had been heard. It was decided to forward a further letter on the subject, and to send copies to the member of Parliament for the district, Mr. A. Gordon Hultquist.
