Glorious! This is the only description to fit Wairoa’s weather for over a week. The temperatures have been even and mild, and there has been almost total absence of wind. Nearly all trees are putting on their spring coats, and plums and peaches, in the fruit department, are making a fair show. Owners of peach trees are busy spraying for leaf curl and those who fail to observe that duty will have only themselves to blame, for Bordeaux mixture will reduce the pest to almost nil. The Wairoa Savages are to join with the Rotorua Savages in an invasion of Gisborne on Saturday night. The monthly meeting of the Clydebank branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, was held at the homo of Mr. and Mrs. J. Boyd, Mrs. H. L. Taylor presiding. The competitions resulted :—Home-made marmalade. —Mrs. Boyd, 1; Mrs. A. B. Taylor, 2; Miss N. Taylor, 3. The judges were Mrs. and Miss Mcßurnie.

On’ Saturday a collision occurred between, two ears at “Takapau,” Waihua district, near Mr. .T. Spooner’s residence, both vehicles being badly damaged. The driver of the car bound for Wairoa, a niece-of the owner, Mr. Hori Joe, Moliaka, suffered injuries to the jaw and the lower part of the face, besides bruises and shock, necessitating her removal to the Wairoa Hospital. The latest Clydebank social evening was held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Taylor and took the form of a card party. The games were evenly contested. and during the evening Mr. 11. Lyall presented the prizes, congratulating Mrs. G. Wilson on, her success, and

also Mr. W. Taylor, who came second. Mr. and Mrs. Lowell-Smith, have returned to Hastings.—Mrs. T. H. Hall, who is still a patient in the Wairoa Hospital, has somewhat improved.—Mr. and Mrs. W. Coker, North Clyde, have returned from a trip to Honolulu. —Mr. and Mrs. W. Lucas, Balclulha, are visiting Wairoa and Morerc. —Mr. B. P. Dorwood, Teinuka, is on a visit (o Wai- • 10a. —Mr. W. Bumstead, who has been stay- , ing with her daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. and Mr. Howes, Ormondvillc, has returned to Tuai. —Messrs. J. and P. MeFarlane, Timaru, are visiting Wairoa.—Mr. L. C. Meaner, New Plymouth, is spending a holiday in Wairoa. —Miss McKinnon has returned to “Slratholm,” Waihua, accompanied by her sister, Mrs. Seebeck, and four children. -Mrs. Secbeck is convalescing after a serious illness.—Mrs. R. Mclntyre, “Clonkcen,” Mangaone, is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Monteath at Te Moari station.
