VACUUM PACKING

BUTTER AND CHEESE PREMIUM IN BRITAIN LONDON, May 29. Sir Thomas Wilford, presiding at the first annual meeting of Vacuum Packed Products, Limited, referred to the Government taking over from August 1 the whole of the butter and cheese produced in New Zealand. As the company had consistently obtained premiums of 12s per cwt. for butter and 20s per cwt. for cheese vacuum packed, the process would surely interest the Government, said Sir Thomas! When considering the price obtainable in Britain, it was reasonable for the company to expect support. In the event of the Government making the firm one of its selling agents, a regular and plentiful supply of produce would be obtainable. Sir Thomas Wilford is going to New Zealand in June in the company’s interests.
