DIVISION DEFERRED
BRITISH MINES BILL REDRAFTING PLANNED (British Official Wiroloss.) ltecd. 10 a.m. RUGBY, May 28. An announcement arising out ot the decision of the Government not to go to a division on the second reading of the Coal Mines Bill after opposition had developed on both sides of the House to amendments which the Government indicated it would introduce in the committee stage, was made by the Prime Minister, Mr. Stanley Baldwin, in the House of Commons.
Mr. Baldwin said the Government held by the principles of the, bill, but decided it must be postponed till the autumn as sufficient time would not ho available, after the recess, in the heavy Parliamentary timetable. The \~lovor:uii<mt would make use of the interval to redraft the bill, which would inejude changes announced in the debate on the second reading.
