HOSPITAL REPLANNING
AUCKLAND SCHEME AUSTRALIAN ARCHITECTS (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. A comprehensive scheme for the replanning of the Auckland Hospital and the erection of new buildings on modern lines is to be obtained by the Auckland Hospital Board from the architectural firm of Messrs. Stephenson and Meldrum, of Sydney and Melbourne. A decision to this effect was made at a special meeting of the board after consultation with Mr. A. 0. Stephenson, a. principal of the firm. Messrs. Stephenson and Meldrum are recognised Australian authorities on hospital design. They have planned about 30 hospitals in the Commonwealth and at present have work in hand aggregating between £2,0C0,000 and £3,000,000.
The firm was recently engaged by the Wellington Hospital Board to prepare a complete plan for the Wellington Hospital and to supervise the construction of the first of the board’s new buildings in co-operation with the board’s architect.
