Ilis Honour Air. Justice Reed, acting Chief Justice, who presided at the Supreme Court in Gisborne this week, left this morning for Napier, accompanied by his associate, Mr. C. P. Richmond.
Mr. W. G. Walkley, of Hawera, secretary of the North Island Alotor Union, has been appointed manager of the Australian Alotorists’ Petrol Company, and will leave soon for Sydney, states a Press Association message. The Rev. L. G. AI. Donaldson-, formerly pastor of the Gisborne -Baptist Church, was a passenger on the liner Monterey, which arrived at Auckland to-day from Sydney. Air. Donaldson is proceeding to Suva, where he proposes making a six months’ stay. All*. A. S- Vine, formerly of the staff of the Public Trust Office in Christchurch, arrived in Gisborne last evening to take up an appointment at the office here, Mr. Vine, who will succeed Mr. R.. S. Alenneer, commenced his duties this morning. Air. Reg. Oolebourne, ot the staff of the local office, has received advice of his appointment to Hamilton. He leaves Gisborne in about a fortnight.

Mr. Johannes Andersen, librarian of the Turnbull Library, Wellington, will be a passenger by the Port Hobart, which sails for London to-day.. Ho is leaving for the purpose of attending a conference of the P.E.N. to bo held at Buenos Aires in September. He is going first to London in his official capacity as librarian of the TurnbulJ Library to make inquiries and establish contacts in Great Britain, Denmark, Holland, and possibly other Con-, tinental countries. Mr. Andersen will be accompanied by Mrs. Andersen, and they will be absent for about sik months.
