Drusorhurkt, was recently appointed superintendent of the Whakatane Hospital, and Dr. Wadtnore being ill, the whole of the -work on the plains had to be attended to by Dr. Appleby. Mr. M-cCready said that doctors had called at his residence live hours’ lute owing to their being so busy. The long distances doctors had to travel on the plains was another problem which caused dissatisfaction. Charges to country patients were in accordance higher than they should 'be. The possibility of an epidemic breaking out on the plains caused much alarm, ns the service necessary would not be available.
