LARGE SURPLUS
AUCKLAND POWER BOARD £13,000 ABOVE ESTIMATE .V surplus of £30,7.10 lor the year ended March 21 was disclosed in the balance-sheet of the Auckland Elec-tric-Power Board. This is considered to be very gratifying, in- view of the reductions, amounting to about. £45,000, made in the rates to consumers last vear. The estimated surplus was £23,429. “It was estimated that we'would sell 144.150,000 units, and we actually sold 148,834,443 units,” said the chairman, Mr. W. J. Holdsworth “This position is largely the result of the new policy adopted by the board some months ago with a view to building up further its domestic loading. The estimated revenue was £502,718. and the actual revenue received £040,315. Operating expenses and capital charges were estimated at £509,289, whereas the actual figure is £003,595.
