WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
OPOUTAMA MEETING The May meeting of the Opoutama AVomon's Institute, held in the Ruawharo Hall, was well attended. Mrs. Foster presided. V isitors present were Mrs. Ail oll . and Miss Nola Gibson. The proceedings opened with the institute song, after which the aspirations wore read. The motto was ‘‘.lf you would not he known to do a thing-—never do it. ’ Mrs. Aiton was enrolled as a member.
The roll call, “Helpful Hints,” met with a ready response from everyone. The competition results were:— Paper hat (5 entries). —.Mrs. Gower. 1: Mrs. Bendall. 2: Mrs. Nugent. 3. Khort* bread (11 entries). — Mrs. Foster. 1; .Mrs. llarere, 2: .Mrs. Bendall, 3.
A dainty afternoon tea was dispensed by the hostesses, Mrs. Foster and Mrs. Jobson, following which the amusement for the day, a, motor ear advertisement competition, arranged by Mrs. A. llarere, was won .by Miss L. Bowen. All enjoyable meeting was brought to a close by the singing of the National Anthem.
