WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
EAKAGKOA MEETING An enjoyable meeting was, held by the Rakauroa Women's Institute last ->-cck. It was decided to hold a fancy dies:, danco on May 15. This is a popular annual event. The competition was shortbread, and l]ie winners were: Mrs. W. Shaw, 1; Miss L. McLean, 3: Mrs. H. Boniface, A lecture read on soya bean culture proved interesting. Another kind of bean, a huge our of (lie Guinea variety, was brought, by one of the members, proving a- novelty to most of them. An entertaining letter from an institute in South Africa was* rear! by one member. It was decided (bat the competition for Mav should be a soiled-linen ha K , this to be" a gift to the'work-stall.
TUAI MEETING The monthly meeting of the Tuai Women's Institute was held last Wed: nesday evening, and proved a great success. There was an attendance of 30 members, with three visitors. Pour new members were admitted. A play, "Candour Club," was enacted by members and was voted very good for a first attempt. The competitions were: Sewing, teacosy from scraps: Mrs. Munro, 1; Mrs. Eban'aiul Mrs. Fame, tie, 2. Cooking, Walnut cake: Mrs. Alford, 1; Mrs. Jones, 2. Hostesses for the evening were Mesdames Alford, Campbell, and Rosenberg.
