Soldier Becomes Star

PEORGE Brent, who is playing opposito Ginger Rogers in her first solo starring picture, "In Person," has established himself as one of the most popular and capable leading men in American films. Yet, if he hadn't played soldier at the same time that .10 "was playing his first stage roles, he might have become a purely Euro poan star and never found his way ;o the American stage and screen. He served his stage apprenticeship in he famous Abbey Theatre In Dublin during the time of the Irish Revolution of 1924. Brent began dividing his time between playing at the Abbey md carrying despatches for the latriot leader Michael Collins. When Collins was slain, Brent fled. For a lime he hid in Glasgow, but British authorities tracod him and he took refuge in England itself. Finally he found safe passage on a freighter bound out of Plymouth for America. His desire for the stage survived his brief career as a warrior, and he was soon in the theatre.

TEAN Harlow, the most famous of all J platinum blondes, has become a brunette. WHILE recently visiting a film studio at Elstree, Mr. George Bernard Shaw was asked if he went to the pictures.
