VISITOR'S COMPARISON
PERTH, Jan. 14
Sir Cecil Leys, managing director of New Zealand Newspapers, Limited, who is returning on the Narkunda from a. 10 months' tour of America, Britain, Japan, China, and India, saiTTvto-day on arrival at Fromnntle that lie could notice no great encroachment made by radio on the newspapers' province. Both had a definite function, .for ■which they should co-operate. He noticed a marked advance in English newspapers from five years ago. The popular press was outdoing American newspapers in the matter of headings and display, but tended to seize upon sensational incidents, and thus was not in any sense as comprehensive as Australian newspapers. He considered that the standard of Australian newspapers was exceptionally good, and compared favorably with that of England, America and Canada.
