MEDICAL INSURANCE
SYSTEM FOR NURSES URGED
The need for some system of medical insurance for nurses was emphasised byMr. F. Jones (Lab., Dunedin South) .in the House of Representatives during the debate on the Finn,nee Bill. He said that many nurses were exposed io the danger of infection, lint that no provision was made for compensation if tliny happened, io cont ract a disease during the course of their work. ». : Many nurses had been infected willi tuberculosis, and many of them had been permanently incapacitated. In three years in the Otago health district 15 nurses had suffered in litis way. The Otago Hospital Hoard bad certainly provided them with till the medical attention possible, but when some of them were discharged they had m provision for the rest of their lives.
