WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
RAKAUROA MEETING The monthly meeting ol the Rnkauroa Women’s Institute was held on Tuesday afternoon, when there was a lair attendance of members and visitors. The business consisted chiefly of finalising arrangements for the forthcoming flower show and sale of work. It was decided to group the classes ol each section in pairs, each pair to receive a prize, and also hold a dance in the evening. Gratification was expressed at the fact that the institute entry in the A. and P. Association’s Show, was highly commended. _ A letter from a member’s Natal link was read and an interesting collection of photographs showing different parts of Natal passed round. A continuation o' the district’s “Golden Thread” was read. The institute is indebted to Mr. 11. Benul’oy for this record of the early (lays, with its interesting facts and sidelights. The competition, best Christmas gilt, not to cost more than Is, was won by Mrs. Williams, with an embroidered organdie handkerchief sachet, M-rs. F. Shaw being placed next with a crocheted milk jug cover. The roll call, “Sing, say or penny pay,” was well responded to and evoked several good stories.
