ARMISTICE DAY

TO-MORROW’S CRR EMONIES Tiic observance of two minutes’ silence commencing at 11 o'clock to-morrow morning will constitute the official recognition of the Armistice Day anniversary, and it is hoped that there will be a general compliance with the wish expressed by His Majesty the King in respect of the silence. It lias been arranged that church eongregations generally will meet a little earlier than usual for the morning services. in order that the silent period may not lie broken in upon by the usual movements of assembly.

At Holy Trinity a special Armistice Day sermon wifi be preached by Canon A. F, Hall, and the congregation will be augmented by the church parade of the Gisborne Upturned Soldiers’ Association, 'flip parade will muster at the Y.M.C.A, Hall in Fitzlicrbert street at 10.15 a.m., and will be headed by the W.E.C.M.R. Band in the march to the church. Wreaths will ho laid at the foot of the Wayside Cross in the grounds of Holy Trinity after the morning service, and those who propose to take part in this ceremony are invited to leave their tloral tributes on the steps of the chancel in the church throughout the special service.

Appropriate services also will take place iu the other churches.
