TOKOMARU BAY NEWS
TENNIS CLUB DANCE (Horald Correspondent.) ,A very jolly dance in aid of the funds of the Tokomaru Bay Tennis Club was held in the To Buka Hall on Wednesday evening. Although not very largely attended, the function attracted most of the tennis enthusiasts. This is the first of a serids of dances to bo held frequently throughout the summer, and it is anticipated that there will bo a large crowd at the second dance, to be held near the end of the month. The entertainment committee comprises Misses B. Moore, M. Mackuy, and D. Pepper, and Messrs. R. Hollever, J. Anderson, D. Speedy and A.''Johnson. Two novelty dances were conducted during the evening, and the winners of the spot dance were Mr. and Mrs. D Felton, while Mrs. E. Barrington and Mr. F. Brown were lucky in the Monte Carlo waltz.
Music was supplied by Aliss HConole and Air. W. Brechin, and enjoyable extras were contributed by Aliss Lb Walker, aud radio music by Air. W. Wheeler. The ladies provided a dainty supper. Air. and Airs. Alouat, Hautanoa, returned this week from a holiday in residence in Tokomaru Bay. Mr. Boag formerly of Gisborne, have taken up residence in Tokomaru Bay. Mr. Boag has replaced Mr. J. Alacdonald in the employ of the Tokomaru Bay freezing works stock department.—Aliss A. E. Trafford, Tokomaru Bay, is a weekend visitor at her home in the AVaioeka Valley.—Mr. D. .Speedy, of Tokonmru Bay, has left on annual furlough, to be spent in the Auckland district. The Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild hold a successful shop day •recently in the Masonic Hull. The sale of fancy goods, flowers, produce and cakes realised a good sum, and afternoon tea was a popular attraction. Those in charge of the stalls were Alcsdamos James ami Tankard, fancy; Alesdamos Jones and O’Callaghan, enkos and sweets; Airs. Nugent, produce; Mesdamos Powell, Ncvin and Hibbcrt, afternoon tea. Mrs, S. G. Doig and Aliss Belle Doig, Tokomaru Bay, arrived home this week from, an extended holiday in Sydney. They were met in Gisborne by Mr. S. G. Doig and Aliss S. Doig.
