PLANE WRECKED
FORCED LANDING MADE OCCUPANTS UNINJURED (t’f-r Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Forced to land on a narrow patch ot shingle on the cast hank of the Healey River, while, (lying from Hokitika to Christchurch late yesterday afternoon, Mr, A. H. Xancekivell, of West Coast Airways, overturned his Spartan machine' Through striking a boulder, smashed both wings,' and. badlv damaged the unciercafriage.
Neither the passenger, Mr. P>. Behan, jun., nor the pilot, was hurt. The trip was uneventful until passing over Rollcstoii range, where the throttle control worked loose and the machine lost height. Mr. Xancekivell was within gliding distance of the river lied, and managed to bring the machine down. It struck a boulder and turned completely over. Mr, Xancekivell and Mr. Behan were able to crawl out of the cockpits.
Tlie machine probably will have to be dismantled and brought to Christchurch for rebuilding.
