To-day’s North Island Report. Blue skies were reported at' Auckland and Opotiki this morning, but overcast (conditions prevailed elsewhere in the • North Island, with rain fairly general. •Light to moderate southerly breezes were :general. The barometer had commenced to rise again. Temperatures at 9 o’clock .were;. Auckland and Tauranga, 61 deigrees, Opotiki 66. East Cape and Gis- > borne 56, Napier 57, and Wellington 55. :Moderate or smooth seus were reported everywhere. . ’ Last Night’s Forecast The depression is passing eastwards, .and an anticyclone is approaching from the Tasman Sea. Winds southerly, Strong at places in the far north and south, but otherwise light, to moderate. In the eastern Tasman Sea, moderate southerly winds, later becoming variable j seas smooth to moderate. Weather, some scattered showers, mainly oil the East Coast and in the far north arid south, but otherwise fair to cloudy weather may 'be expected.
