AUCKLAND RELIEF WORKS
CITY COUNCIL’S PROPOSAL (Per Presi Association.) ' AUCKLAND, this day. A proposal that steps should be taken by the Auckland, City Council to finish* all its No. 5 scheme relief jworks and by means of a subsidy from the Unemployment Board, supplemented by loan money, carry them to a conclusion by employing men at standard rat os ;of wages; was, submitted to the council by the Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchinson. The, council ;app.r6ved the suggestion and authorised the Mayor to make preliminary investigations.
