APPLICATIONS OPPOSED
TRANSPORT LICENSES GOODS SERVICES Further opposed applications for goods service licenses wore heard by the No. 4 Transport Licchsing Authority at its Gisborne sitting to-day as follow : W. S. Gould (Mr. K. A. Woodward), application for it continuous area license for the carriage of supplies for one sia. lion, and for the cartage of metal in the Cook and Waikohu counties. Mr. D. U. Clirisp opposed the application oil behalf of various operators insofar as it related to the cartage of metal in the Waikohu county.
The applicant, gave evidence of the work he had undertaken under his former seasonal license, and stated that he desired the license to be made continuous in order that lie might secure work during the scltsoh. It was also necessary for him to extend his metal carting activities to the Waikohu county.
After a long retirement, the authority announced that it would reserve its decision.
In connection with the application of S. E, Sargent for the renewal of an area license for tho Wairoa, and Cook counties and for the route to Napier and Hastings with deviations to the freezing works in Hawke’s Bay, it was decided, after some ’ discussion between the parties that the hearing should be adjourned to the Wairoa sitting on Monday.
W. F. lies (Mr. L. C. Parker), application for the renewal of a continuous area license for the area within a 20-miles radius of the Gisborne Post Office, for the route Gisborne-Tolaga. Bay. for the main highway to Hastings, including the Wairoa and Napier boroughs, for the area within a 10-mile radius of the Hastings Post Office, and for the highway Gisborne to Taneatua via Waioeka, including the Opotiki Borough, with restrictions. —Evidence was given by Richard Shaw, an employee of the applicant regarding I hi* applicant's operations over a number of years. Mr. I). K. Clirisp opposed the application on behalf of various carriers .in order that lie, might ascertain I lie applicant’s costing system. This matter was discussed in chambers, and the authority afterwards announced the. renewal of the license on the same conditions as formerly.
