“SMiTWS” PROPOSALS TENDER to BE SUBMITTED (Per Press Association.) , TAURANGA, this dby. Sir' Charles Kingsford Smith stated tliat it was his intention to put.' in a tender for the English mail service, this year. He said he would first tender to fly mails between Australia' and England, and'viee versa, in a period of two weeks, with the ultimate object of cutting down the time to eight or 10 days. "Smithy” met Mrs. 11. B. Hewitt, who claims to be the first certificated lady pilot in .the world. She got her ticket in ,1910. yijsterday “Smithy" took up 19 full loads of joy-riders The Southern Cross will arrive at Auckland to-morrow. The engines probably will'be overhauled in Christchurch prior to preparations for the flight back to Australia from the Ninety Mile BfeafcH;
