HOMING PIGEONS

RACE FROM TAKAPAU Another race of the series under the auspices of the Poverty Bay Homing Pigeon Society was held on Saturday between Takapau and Gisborne. There wore 12 competitors, and a good race resulted, the birds being liberated at Takapau at 11 a.m., and the winner reaching its loft in just under four hours. The race resulted as followsJ. Forster’s Black Prince, 3hr. 55min. 40sec. 1; L. Jackson’s Silver Bullet, 4hr. 30min. 25sec., 2; F. Dunstan’s Willows King, 4hr. 34mn. 16sec., 3; F. Wildish's Redwings, shr. 25min. 45scc., 4; W. Dunstan’s Sky Blue, 6hr. 45min. 55sec., 5 Also competed: F. Dunstan’s Flying Fury, L. Jackson’s Silver Streak, J. Forster’s King Cole and The Roof, W. Dunstan’s Refi Shadow, and R, Sheppard’s Blue Metal and Bike Valve. It has been decided that the next race will be held from Woodville for tbs Forster Cup. As the trophy is open only to yearlings, however, it is doubtful whether the entry list will be a li'rpe one this season, owing to the fact tint mni'v fanciers have bought new stock and have not many birds homed. It will not he long, though, before the young HrJ raciriv commences, and some very keen competition is anticipated.
