While engaged in schooling Hunting Day over the hurdles at the Hastings Racecourse on Monday, L. Matheson was thrown when the horse baulked at one of the jumps and ran into the wing. The rider suffered slight concussion and other minor injuries
Ladies are specially invited to attend the meeting in the Eorough Council chambers at 7.20 o’clock to-night, when Messrs. Lysnar, Morrison and Lockett will speak on the reform of currency as the best means of restoring prosperity. All others interested also invited.
The Rov. N. F. Benliam, vicar of St. Stephen’s, Opotiki, has been appointed brganisiiig-seeietavy of the Waiapu general diocesan funds, with headquarters at Napier. He will take up his new appointment at the beginning of February. His successor at Opotiki has not yet been appointed.
