EARLIEST POSSIBLE DATE

ELECTIONS IN BRITAIN NATIONALISTS V. LABOR (Elec. Tel. Copyright—'Unitod Press Assn.) (Received Oct. 2,2 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 1. Tin? Hitn-Heraid political correspondent says the decision of the Liberal Cabinet' members to remain with the Government is the turning point in tho election manoeuvres. Ho adds that there will now be an election at the earliest possible date, and a National Government, led by Mr. MacDonald, will comprise all the Conservatives and a majority of the Liberals against the Labor Party. It is not stated yet whether junior Liberal Ministers will throw over Mr. Lloyd George as the senior ones have done, but- it is expected that there will bo no important Liberal resignations. "This is the greatest betrayal in political history,” was the comment-of Radical back-benchers'. The Daily Herald lobbyist Urns interprets the position-: "The moment Mr. Lloyd George was unable to defend himself* bis trusted lieutenants sold the free trade parly.” The lobbyist adds that in consequence of the wholesale deserting of a majority of the party, Mr. Lloyd George will not take an active part in Hie election, but will be content with a letter to his constituents disassociating himself from the National Government.
