SERIOUS ERUPTION
SUVA, Nov. 2.1. Captain Anderson, of the Tongan yacht Hifofua, reports that the recent volcanic eruption at the island of Njuafooua totally destroyed 2000 acres of native coconut plantations. The whole area was covered with a layer of lava, and a portion of the coastline is Hteml. On the Fotu side of the island only a small portion of the town remains. Slight volcanic action continues.
