CLEMENCEAU RESTS IN SOLITUDE LONDON, Nov. 26. On a lonely hillside, amid typical Breton pastoral scenery, M. Clemenceau was buried to-day near the tiny village of Monchamps, in La Vendee. Thus, like another great statesman, Cecil Rhodes, he finds his eternal rest in a place of solitude and beauty. While he was being buried the legendary rain of Brittany fell. Extraordinary precautions were taken to prevent the funeral from becoming a public spectacle, says the Paris correspondent of the Times. Mounted police kept thousands of onlookers, pressmen and cinematographers 100 yards distant. The motor hearse, followed by four coaches, arrived at noon, mud-splashed after tho long journey from Paris. They traversed hill tracks, which farm laborers had spent the night in rendering safe for motors. Farm hands carried the plain coffin to the grave, which was barely three feet deep owing to the* granite leaving just enough room for the coffin to be laid in flat. Twenty .mourners, chiefly old servants find members of the staff, throw in flowers. An old gardener saying “Adieu, Mon Maitre,” dropped in a rose. Within 10 minutes tho mourners had departed. /
