A PADDY'S MARKET (Herald ,CorreßppjQd«n)t.) While the weather was anything but favorable for a successful function, the Matawai hall was packed to overflowing on Saturday afternoon .when the Catholics of the Motu district conducted a, Paddy's Market in aid of the Ormond! parish funds. The feature of the afternoon was the large display of vegetables, reflecting the district's suitability for root crops. Art and needlework also occupied a fair share of the .floor space, while- meat and flowers were also responsible for a fair share of the afternoon's financial success. The weather conditions outside kept the public in the hall, and taking advantage of the circumstances,! saw that all the patrons were well load-' ed with provisions. In tin- evening a successful dunce was' held, the duties of M.C. falling on Mr.' F. Cleary, while the music was in the capable bauds of Mrs. Cleary, Miss Hold! and Mr. H. Calvy. Mr. and Mrs. 1L Baird rendered yeoiuan service day and night, and it is due to their organising (hat the function was such a success. Others who assisted were Mesdajncs Hooper, Calvy, Cleary, Pruuunond. Jacobs, Greatbatch, \leLoughlin and Grace, anil the Misses Drtunniund (2). Lynch, and Reid.
