£IO,OOO OPAL

LONDON, Jan. 25. Connoisseurs consider that the 232carat Australian black opal, is the finest ever found. Dealers, who have handled black opals since they were first discovered 30 years ago, admit that it is unrivalled either for size or variety and brilliance of colors. The opal is estimated to he worth £IO,OOO. Its destination has not yet been decided, but it is likely to be exhibited in public museums. The opal was discovered near Walgett about three months ago.
