GISBORNE CLUB MEETS The executive oi' the Gisborne Amateur Athletic and Harrier Chili met last evening, there being present Messrs. \V. Jenkins, in the chair, A. C. .Swan, E. Algie, .A. Hart. .1. Algie, W. Hutchinson, A. 11. Thorpe, 1". Fulton, .1. Mercer, ('. A. Remnant, ami .1. N. Eraser, hon. secretary. An apology for absence was received from Mr. C. Suicliil'e.

The Manawatu Athletic Club wrote inviting Miss Norma Wilson to compete at a sports meeting to he held on March 2. — It was decided to forward tin' letter to Miss \\ ilson. In view of the races on Thursday, this week's sports meeting will be held at the Childcrs road reserv e -m Friday evening, commencing at .">.!."> o'clock.

The secretary was instructed to forward letters of thanks to Mr. M. J. Kync for billeting the Wellington lady athletes during their recent visit here; Mr. A. C. Swan, who acted as manager to the Gisborne athletes to the Poverty Bay-Hawko's .Hay subcentre championships on Saturday last; and to all those who assisted on the gales at the Anniversary Day sports meeting.

A donation of £2 2s was received from the Te Karaka Sports Club, accompanied by a letter thanking the officials of the Gisborne club for assisting at their New Year's Day meeting.—lt was decided to forward a letter of thanks to the Te Karaka club for the donation. Mr. 11. Birkett was elected a member of the club.

The following times were passed as Poverty Bay records. Miss Norma Wilson's 111 2-oscc. for the 120yds. and 1) 3-fi.sec. for the 100yds, and the height of 9ft. 6in. registered by W. Findlay and T. Turbitt in the polo vault event. In view of the Gisborne athletes' visit, to Napier on .March 2 to compete for the Dinwiddie-Walker Shield, dis cussion took place regarding the transport, arrangements. .Members were of the opinion that sufficient support would be available from local online siasts. The club decided to supply the necessary petrol.

A letter was received from the Manufuke Memorial Club asking the club to reconsider its decision in connection with a permit to include amateur events on their programme on Easter Saturday.—lt was stated that according to the rules the Gisborne club was unable to grant a permit, but an appeal would be made to the sub-centre, and should the Mauutukc club change the date to one not allotted to another club the permit probably "would be granted. Friday, February 8: 75 yards men's handicap, 70 yards ladies' handicap, two-mile fiat handicap (final distance Johnston Cup), three-mile cycle handicap, 440 yards hurdles handicap, pole vault. Friday, February 15: 100 yards ladies' handicap, 220 yards men's handicap, one-mile cycle handicap (second distance Algie Cup), one-mile flat handicap, shot putting, broad jump, one? mile men's scratch medley relay. Saturday, February 23: Poverty Bay championships. 'Wednesday, February 27: 150 yards ladies' handicap, 150 yards men's handicap, two-mile junior cycle handicap (second distance Lines Cup), rniss-and-out cycle race, 40 yards fiat handicap, hop, step and jump handicap.
